Featuring the new Second Life Starter Avatar(s), how I discovered them and how I made Art, my new „Boy Toy“ look like this with less than 2.000 L$
Okay lovelies, may I introduce „Art“ to you? His full name is „Art3mis“ and he (she) is a gender switch. 😉 He/she is an older Alt of mine, I woke up from sleep a few days ago. But that time he was still a she… 😛 You can meet the female version here, I needed her for a picture: Pool Time. That version still wore the free Freya Body and a free Genius head! But she will be updated with the new female starter Avatar too, soon! Of course you can read about that here then too 😉
But for now, let’s focus on the male version, Art. I will tell and show you here, what he is wearing and where to get that stuff. Maybe one or two hints for „real“ newbies, where to find cheap stuff. And as said, I made him look like this with less than 2k L$ – what is approx. 8€ for me (Germany).
The new Avatar Welcome Packs (AWP) are available for everyone (also older residents – yes, you!) and you can find them in your Inventory: Library – Avatar Welcome Pack. They feature 3 male LELUTKA EVOX heads, as well as the MESHBODY LEGACY Special Edition (basic). Plus several Skins, Shapes, clothing packs and as well a little AO, with anmations by OMY. (Of course there is as well the female version included.) So you can dress up right from the start and explore this beautiful virtual world! And of course you also find all the Landmarks in your folders.
Anyways, I told you I will focus on the male AWP – so let’s take a deeper look at Art!
The Head
The new Avatar Welcome Packs (AWP) hold 3 different LEL EVOX Heads. As usual head and body shape are adjustable via the „appearance edit shape“ function, so you can give it an individual look. As the head is just the basic version, there is no HUD delivered. So you cannot show any moods or other fine tuning settings. But for starting voer in Second Life, this is a really great gift! And of course, LEL will usually gift a free head during christmas time. Just grab it then!

Let’s Focus on the head and what Art is „wearing“
Head:
LELUTKA EvoX – Eon Lite (incl. in AWP)
Skin & Add-Ons:
VOGLIA – Frankie EvoX (VE Sunny) incl. Brows (LS 90)
Eyes: LeLutka Blue (incl. in AWP)
IZZIE’S – Forehead Lines, Frown Lines, Cheek Freckles, Eyebags (LS 298)
VOLKSTONE – Pavlo Hairbase (LS 199)
VOLKSTONE – Pavlo Facial Hair (LS 199)
Hair:
WINGS DG – Gift 04 Male Hair (LS 0 – Group Gift)
The Body
Okay, he has not only a cute face, but also a hot body 😛 Sadly to say, the meshbody Legacy basic versions have no settings HUDs, whether for the head nor the body. So you cannot hide body parts via HUD or have facial expressions. That’s a feature I am really missing when taking pictures, but for „normal use“ it should be still okay. And of course, they don’t have any genitals 😉 These you need to get on your own, if you need it! 😉 Btw: the starter skin included in the pack, has an „on-print“ underwear – you cannot delete it on the skin directly.
So if you have clothes that don’t fit well and still body parts are visible, you need to get some BOM hiding layers. You can maybe use some out of the AWP clothes packs or you can get some on the marketplace (search for alpha bom).
Let’s look at the yummy details of Art’s Body:
MESHBODY – Legacy (m) Special Edition (basic) (incl. in AWP)
Shape: EON – self adjusted (incl. in AWP)
Skin:
VELOUR x Picasso Homme – SOFT Figure (LEGACY/SUNNY (LS 379)
Add-Ons by PICASSO HOMME Skin:
Moles, Leg Hair, Happy Trail, Freckles, Large Butt
V2 Soft Chest, Belly Veins, Armpit Crease, Arm Veins
Nails:
EVENTYRA – Legacy Basic (m) FN/TN – Naturals (LS 25)
CLOTHES:
BUTTERSCOTCH – Liam Jeans (LS 399)
INVICTUS – Boots Brown (LS 350)

Hints
So as promised, you see that you can upgrade your basic starter avatar with just a little Lindenlove. Some items I grabbed at the weekend sales! And here I’ve got some useful hints for you, where to find cheap but good stuff. Generally said, some of the common stores have gifts or discounts for group members and maybe also a free gift for „young“ avatars. You need to have a look and keep your eyes always open! 🙂

For men its usually harder to find really good stuff as for women. Some steals you can do at the Happy Weekend Sales and Saturday Sales. Also the TMD (the Men’s Dept) and the Manhood weekly shopping events usually has cheap stuff (less than 100L$ if I remember correctly). Also Facebook, Instagram & blogs (eg Flickr or Primfeed) might be a good way to find good stuff. There might be other shopping events or locations you might grab a steal, but sadly said, I am usually not focused on men’s items.
Art in the wilderness
Yepp, sometimes he roams free 😀 But don’t worry, I use him mostly for pictures 😉

Last but not least
I hope, you say „Hi“ to Art when you see him roaming around 😉 And of course I hope, you found this article a little helpful and getting your starter avatar set up. If you have any other hints or useful tipps, share them with the community and help Newbies to find their way!
